The 2007 River Run Garbage Grab was a huge success.  195 volunteers and 30 staff worked 8 hours to remove over 24 tons of trash from a 10 mile stretch of the Des Moines River between Cottonwood Access and Birdland Marina.  43% of the total was recycled!  Here is a list of what was removed from the river:

• 4.5 automobiles 
• 88 tires
• 110 pounds of plastic
• 196 pounds of glass
• 10.21 tons of scrap metal
• 2 refrigerators
• 2 TVs
• several air conditioners
• several microwaves
• 14 tons of unrecyclable trash
